Canada is the second-largest destination for our international orders, and also the one where buyers most often misunderstand the legal position. Here is a straight assessment.
The short version
Canada regulates kratom and its alkaloids more strictly than most US states. Kratom has been subject to import restrictions and enforcement action, and selling it for human consumption carries legal risk. We ship to Canada where permitted, but customs seizure is a genuine possibility and buyers should factor that in before ordering.
Why Canada is different
Rather than a state-by-state patchwork, Canada operates under federal framework legislation covering food, drugs and controlled substances. Kratom products do not fit neatly into any approved category, which creates uncertainty and inconsistent enforcement – and in practice that means border scrutiny.
What to verify before ordering
- Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) – current guidance on importing kratom and kratom alkaloid products.
- Health Canada – whether the product is treated as a food, a natural health product or something requiring authorisation.
- Provincial rules – some provinces impose additional restrictions.
- Local bylaws – municipal restrictions exist.

What happens in practice
- Most shipments arrive. Not all.
- Parcels can be held, inspected, delayed or seized by customs. We cannot control or predict this.
- Duties and taxes are the buyer’s responsibility and are not included in our shipping charge.

How to reduce risk
- Order smaller quantities. Larger shipments attract more scrutiny and cost more to lose.
- Track your parcel. Monitoring lets you respond quickly if it is held.
- Keep your documentation. Your order confirmation and the batch COA – see how to request a COA.
- Do not order if you are unsure. A seized parcel is money you do not get back.
- Consider a US delivery address if you have one available and can lawfully transport the product across the border yourself. Check the rules first – importing it personally is subject to the same law.
