7OH tablets degrade slowly but they do degrade. Where and how you keep them determines whether the hundredth tablet in a pouch is anything like the first.
The three things that degrade tablets
- Moisture. The fastest-acting of the three. Humidity causes tablets to soften, clump and, over time, lose potency.
- Light. Particularly UV. This is why our packaging is light-blocking rather than transparent.
- Heat. High temperatures accelerate essentially every degradation pathway.
Where to store them
| Location | Verdict | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A cool, dark cupboard, locked | Ideal | Stable temperature, dark, secure |
| A bedside drawer | Acceptable | Fine, but lock it if there are children in the house |
| The bathroom | Bad | Shower humidity cycles degrade product quickly |
| The kitchen | Bad | Heat, moisture and – critically – the wrong place for a child-safe product |
| A windowsill | Bad | Direct light and heat |
| A glovebox or car | Worst | Extreme heat. Do not store tablets in a vehicle. |
| The freezer | Usually no | Condensation on thawing introduces moisture |
Reseal after every use
Oxidation and moisture ingress start the moment packaging is opened. Press the seal closed properly every single time – the few seconds this takes is the difference between stable product and degraded product over months.
Keep the original packaging
It carries the milligram content per tablet, the batch number, the serving instructions and the warnings. Losing it means losing your link to the certificate of analysis and to the dosing information. Do not transfer tablets into an unlabelled container – an unmarked bag of tablets is a hazard in a household.
How long do they last?
We do not print a fixed expiry date because stability depends heavily on storage conditions. Practical guidance:
- Sealed, stored correctly: a 100-count pouch lasts well beyond a typical consumption period.
- Opened, stored correctly: fine for months, gradually less so.
- Opened, stored badly: noticeable degradation within weeks – softening, discolouration, clumping.

Signs of degradation
- Softening, crumbling or clumping together
- Discolouration

- Mould of any kind – discard immediately, do not use
- Tablets sticking to the inside of the pouch
Safety rules
