Responsible Storage of Kratom Alkaloid Products - Official Dollar Tabs

Storage gets treated as a quality topic. It is actually a safety topic first, and a quality topic second.

Safety first: keep these away from children and pets

These are concentrated alkaloid products measured in milligrams. A child or pet ingesting a tablet, a shot or a spoonful of powder is a medical emergency, not a stomach upset.

  • Use a locked container. Not a high shelf, not a drawer. A lock. They cost a few dollars.
  • Never decant into unlabelled containers. An unmarked bag of powder is a hazard to everyone in the house.
  • Keep the original packaging with its milligram content, batch number and warnings.
  • Do not keep it in the kitchen. Especially not the MIT hot chocolate – it looks like a treat, and it should never be stored where food is kept.
  • Dispose of unused product safely – not in an open bin.
  • Tell other adults in the house that it exists and where it is, so nobody mistakes it for something harmless.

Quality: light, heat and moisture

Kratom alkaloids degrade with exposure to light, heat and moisture. Practical rules:

  • Keep it sealed. Reseal immediately after every use. Oxidation starts the moment packaging is opened.
  • Keep it dark. Light-blocking packaging exists for a reason. Do not transfer to clear containers.
  • Keep it cool and dry. Room temperature, away from radiators, windows and ovens.
  • Not the bathroom. Humidity cycles from showers degrade powders quickly.
  • Not the freezer unless the label says otherwise. Condensation on thawing introduces moisture.

Powder-specific storage

Powder has more surface area exposed to air than a tablet, so it degrades faster. Our MIT powder bundle ships as separate sealed jars for exactly this reason – you open one, use it, and the rest stays stable. If you buy powder in one large container, consider splitting it into smaller sealed portions.

Keep the paperwork with the product

The batch number on your packaging is your link to the certificate of analysis. Losing the packaging means losing:

  • The exact milligram content per unit
  • The batch number and therefore the COA
  • The serving instructions and warnings
  • Any expiry or manufacture information

Store the packaging with the product. See how to request a COA.

Inventory discipline

Knowing how much you have and how fast you are using it is genuinely useful information. A simple written note – date opened, amount used – makes the pattern visible. It is also the single best early-warning system for escalating use. See signs you should take a break.

The checklist

✓ Proper storage
  • Locked container, out of reach of children and pets
  • Original sealed packaging, resealed after every use
  • Cool, dark, dry location – not the bathroom or kitchen
  • Packaging and batch information kept with the product
  • Written record of usage
  • Never transferred into unlabelled containers
