“Kratom extract” is an umbrella term. It can describe several quite different products, and the differences matter enormously when you are measuring milligrams.
The three things people mean
1. Full-spectrum extract
An extract retaining a broad range of leaf alkaloids, concentrated from leaf. Closer to traditional kratom in profile, but more concentrated.
2. Mitragynine extract
Concentrated mitragynine – the dominant leaf alkaloid. Measured in tens to hundreds of milligrams. Our MIT range sits here.
3. 7-hydroxymitragynine extract
Concentrated 7OH – a minor alkaloid occurring at well under 0.1% of dried leaf weight. Measured in low single digits to tens of milligrams because of its higher potency by weight. This is our 7OH range.
The comparison
| Full-spectrum extract | MIT extract | 7OH extract | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Alkaloid profile | Many alkaloids | Mitragynine dominant | 7-hydroxymitragynine dominant |
| Relative potency by weight | Moderate | Moderate | Highest |
| Typical milligram range | Varies with product | Tens to hundreds of mg | Low single to tens of mg |
| Margin for error | Wider | Moderate | Narrow |
| Formats we sell | – | Tablets, powder, drink mix | Tablets, shots, powder |
Why the milligram figure alone tells you nothing
“50mg” of a generic extract, “50mg” of MIT and “50mg” of 7OH describe three different amounts of three different alkaloid profiles. Comparing them by the number on the label is the most common analytical mistake buyers make. See the two-alkaloid comparison.
What to check on any extract product
- Which alkaloid is being concentrated – named explicitly, not referred to as “extract”.
- The percentage or milligram content per unit.
- The unit count or servings per package.
- The certificate of analysis for your batch – potency plus purity panels. See how to read a COA.
- No health claims. Any therapeutic claim is a red flag about everything else.
Which to choose
| Choose | If |
|---|---|
| MIT products | You want a lower relative potency starting point or a drink-mix format |
| 7OH products | You understand milligram-scale dosing and are starting at the lowest strength |
| Neither yet | Read What is 7OH? and the mitragynine guide first |
Do not stack extracts
One product, one measured serving, one per day maximum. Combining a 7OH product with a MIT product on the same day means you have no idea how much alkaloid you have taken.
